Taumoepeau Talks Vists

At 6'4 290 pounds, Walton Taumoepeau seems like a natural fit on the football field. But according to Taumoepeau, that hasn't always been the case. Go inside to read more.

"I didn't play football in high school," said Taumoepeau. "I had a lot of smaller schools contacting me about trying to play, so I decided to try things out at Cerritos."

That decision has proven to be successful for Taumoepeau.

"I have offers from Kansas State, Iowa State, and Oregon State. Ole Miss is very close to offering."

The talented Cerritos star has already taken one visit and has several others planned.

"I took an official visit to Iowa State on October 10. It was a good visit and I really enjoyed the school. I have another visit lined up with Oregon State on January 14. They don't need defensive tackles but I love that they are in the Pac-10. I also have a visit set up with Ole Miss for January 21."

Taumoepeau admits one school has emerged as the leader for his services.

"Ole Miss is my leader right now. I like Coach (Terry) Price. He coaches the defensive lineman and is a good guy. Ole Miss is losing all of their defensive tackles. I would have a chance to make an immediate impact. I like that they are in the SEC. The one negative is that they are far away from home. I'm originally from Orange County in California. So that's far away."

Taumoepeau is set to graduate in December but admits he will take his time in deciding on which school he will attend.

"If I have to I will wait until February to sign and finish in May. I need to make sure I make the right choice."

Cerritos finished the season 9-3. Taumoepeau collected 23 tackles and two tackles for loss.
