With a good breeze and outstanding athletes, there was little doubt that we were
going to see some fast times in the 40 yard dash. The athletes that worked in
our visit to the Peach State didn't disappoint. Eric Berry of Creekside, who had
a Top 5 time as a sophomore at the Scout.com Combine took the honors again with
a blistering 4.31 forty.
Berry's forty time should not be used as a benchmark though, he's one of only
about five guys that we've timed in two years to break 4.40. Any time under 4.60
is fast enough to play corner in the NFL if a player knows how to play ball, and
here is a look at some of the fastest players in Atlanta on Saturday.

Top 40's
The Short Shuttle is arguably the best way to judge football speed. One can
have a fast forty and not be a good football player, but without fail, the best
players on the field, post good shuttle times. It measures lateral movement...

Top Shuttles
The L-Cone or 3 Cone drill is a figure eight that most players are not used to
doing, and this drill maybe more than any other reveals a player's athleticism
as he changes direction. Whip the L-Cone, you'll whip your opponents. Here are
the masters of the L-Cone.

The Vertical jump is basically a test of explosion and power. Technique is huge here. Each player will be tested by a machine that will measure how high your fingers touch when going directly up in the air. The vertical jump is the most important for receivers and defensive backs.
