Christiana (Del.) two-way standout Leon Mackey has held one offer since the beginning of September. That offer was from Pittsburgh, but after the show that Mackey put on at the Scout.com All-American Combine in Randolph, N.J its's safe to say that won't be his last.
Mackey put up outrageous numbers for a man of his size and then he followed that up with a dominant performance in the one-on-one competition. It was a no-brainer to award mackey with the MVP award at the combine.
"It feels good to be named MVP," Mackey said. "I felt real good out there. It was a great combine and I'm just glad that all my hardwork is paying off.
"The competition was good, but I think all my work just made me excel a little more than them. This is a nice facility. The combine was great and it was real relaxed."
Mackey holds his one offer, but he informed Scout.com that a pair of southern schools have begun showing interest.
"I have been hearing a little bit from Clemson and Georgia," Mackey said.
Mackey measured in at 6-foot-4 and weighed 278 pounds. He ran a 4.78 40-yard dash, 4.37 shuttle and 7.56 L-Cone. He cleared 32-inches in the vertical and 9-feet,1-inch in the standing broad jump.
The Scout.com All-American Combine will be on the road again this weekend as it travels to New Orleans Saints practice facility in New Orleans, La.
