The Under Armour/Scout.com Combine hit South Florida this past Saturday and many of the state's premier prospects were there. A lot of kids put themselves on the recruiting map with their strong performances. Lets take a closer look at some of the top defensive backs at the event. | |||
|
Top Performer: Tevin McCaskill -- Everyone knew about him coming into the event because of the great junior season he had at Northwestern in 2007. However, McCaskill opened a lot of eyes on Saturday with his tremendous display of athleticism. At 6-2 and 179, he has ideal size for a safety prospect. Starting with his 4.34/40 time, he was off the charts all day with his testing numbers. During drills, he had everything on lock down, matching up against the top receivers at the event. He definitely nailed down a spot as a four-star with his strong performance.
Other Standouts: Frank Crawford -- At 6-0.5/170, Crawford tested very well. His 38-inch vertical jump was third best at the entire event and he was one of just a handful of kids who broad jumped 10+ feet. Along with Frankie Telfort, he gives Gulliver Prep two major Division 1 prospects on defense. Cain Elliott -- The combine secondary coach, Don Cox, spoke very highly of him afterwards, stating that he was the second best DB he had in drills after McCaskill. At 6-0.5/175, Elliott solidied his spot as a legit three-star prospect. Angelo Hadley -- At 5-11 and 190, Hadley has good size and speed and athletic ability. He looked very well coached and seemed effortless at times. He's definitely a major Division 1 prospect and showed why on Saturday. Lamarcus Joyner -- Another Class of 2010 prospect, Joyner had the combine's second best 40-time (4.34) and the best broad jump (10-5). His 37-inch vert wasnt too shabby either. At 5-8.5/162, he'll likely get bigger for next year. His film is outstanding and he definitely showed us why with his performance last Saturday. Remember the name because he'll be one of the state's premier corner prospects next year. Keith Reaser -- The Killian standout was excellent with his testing numbers. His 4.44/40 time led the way and he definitely looked like one of the top defensive backs at the event.
