At the quarterback position, there was some major Division I talent who caught attention. For starters, Alamo Height’s Drew Allen was probably the most impressive. Allen had a nice touch on the long ball, but was able hit the slant and out routes with precision.
A close second has to go to Brownwood’s Casey Pachell (TCU commit) and from Aldine Eisenhower, Kenneth Guiton was on point with his throws during 7-on-7 drills. Also, from the 2010 class, Second Baptist’s Conner Wood is one to keep an eye on.
At the running back position, it was hard not to notice the sophomore phenom Lache Seastrunk from Temple. Not only did he look great in drills, but wowed the crowds when he posted a 4.41 40-yard time against slight crosswinds.
Garland Naaman Forest’s Jonathon Miller (Oklahoma commit) showed his toughest and proved why he is one of the state’s best coming fresh off of a hospital visit. Also, be on the lookout for Rockwall-Heath running back Kendall Lawrence who had an impressive combine as well. Randy Ponder of Edmond (OK) Santa Fe also looked solid.
At wide receiver, Mesquite Horn’s Taylor Gabriel was the top performer from start to finish. His explosive start off the line gave the defensive backs plenty of headaches. Another Naaman Forest athlete, John Harris, was equally impressive making plenty of big plays in 1-on-1 drills. DeWayne Pace (South Grand Prairie) and Darius White (Fort Worth Dunbar) also look solid throughout the day.
